As you know, I finished my bachelor's degree in December of '08. Well, being as from the look of things, my department's days are numbered, I really really need to get back into school for my masters.
So... I'm in the process of applying for the instructional technology program at UB.
I'm gonna need two references. Raise yer hand if you wanna volunteer.
I'm kind of dreading being back in school but I'm kind of excited about it too. For two reasons:
1) I can put off my student loan repayments again (I'm dreading the day when I can no longer do that).
2) I will feel like I'm doing something to advance my life/career/situation.
I just hope I can finish school before my company totally dismantles my job site.
Though -- I have to say, I'm kinda wondering if I should switch my career goal to guidance counselor.
That recent suicide really has got me thinking I want to be more active with teens.
Hmm.
Sorry, this post isn't all that exciting.
So here's some excitement. Look for tomorrow's s3x toy review and free s3x toy contest on my review blog!
Excited yet?? ;)

It's so damn hard going back, isn't it? I took the summer off and I can't tell you how much I'm not wanting to return in the fall. sigh
I'm really sorry about your dept., that must be awful for you.
Good luck with grad school. I don't think I could do it at this stage of my life. I'm glad I got my edumacation out of the way early (well, not that early: I was 37, traditionally married, and the mother of a four year old at my last graduation). I hope your work situation is more robust than you fear, and that everything works for the best.
I think you'd make an awesome guidance counselor. Seriously. You are so good with our own kids, they trust you and can talk to you about anything and look how good they've turned out! I can see you in that role for sure.
I love you and will support your pursuit however I can.
I am doing the same thing!! Since it took me over 10 years to get my Bachelor's I swore I would NEVER touch another school book again. But times are changing and the BS or BA isn't what it used to be. I know you will do great in school and I definitely think you should pursue whatever is in your heart. You are still young and should do what makes you happy!!
follow your heart and follow your dreams! :)
FYI, guidance counselor positions took far more hits around the state this year than Instructional Tech. when it came to job cuts.
Good to know Pixie! :) Thx!
Tina!! i didnt know you were thinking about being a guidance counselor. You would be SO AWESOME at it. especially if you wanna work at a secondary level. Those kids will love you. You are so real and down to earth and you give off a "i dont take sh*t" vibe. Kids pick up on that stuff and will totally respond SO POSITIVELY to that. I think you would make an excellent GC. GO you for going back to school!
