Health Care Reform

So the other day I emailed Joe Lieberman about supporting healthcare reform (including a public option) and got one of his form letters back.

To which I responded with:

Thank you... I hope, sincerely, that a public option is included in what you support.

Far, far too many are without or without enough insurance. Who knows if I will be one of them some day (or you or someone you love).

SOMEONE needs to rein in the disgusting costs of health care and I'm afraid that our government officials with their cushy free full coverage insurance has gotten too fat cat to realize that the rest of us suffer.

Or because none of you have any concerns for yourself you don't recognize the urgency so many of us have.

I realize it doesn't look great on our national "wallet" right away, but we've spent far more on far less a helpful measure. Cut back on wars or something else we truly don't need (and there is MUCH of it! Ehem -- bailouts!!).

Not. This.

I don't want to taken away from my family -- nor do I want anyone else to be -- because of something as completely ridiculous as money. I want to die knowing that the medical professionals did all that was humanly possible to save me. Not because my bank account was empty.

The poor (and what used to be the middle class) suffer enough already. It was our 401Ks that Madoff ran off with. It was our interest rates that went up when the financial industry began its collapse. It was our houses that got foreclosed on. It was our jobs that were lost when companies started shedding jobs to save their million dollars bonuses. It was our tax money that lifted those companies up only to turn around and tell us "sorry we're laying you off". It is the poor who always carry all of the burden and none of the glory.

Moving forward in such a way to at least give them/us adequate health care is the very, very least the government can do in return.

Anything else is just class-cleansing.
