Don't ever buy software from this place: http://cheapestsoftwareanywhere.com/.
I paid them $300 for a software package that I need for school.
Their website swears up and down that they buy "overstock" software and licenses, but really they are selling pirated versions of the software.
BUT the dude who rippeth me off (one jaime@jaysdesigns.net), swears all is kosher.
Well, "Jaime" (if that IS, in fact, you're real name)... let me explain how "legit" software installation works:
Step one: Put CD into square machine labeled "computer".How installation of your "legit" software works (these are the ACTUAL instructions -- misspellings and all -- but I'll take out the boring parts):
Step two: Run the CD.
Step three: Watch the pretty stuff while it installs.
Step four: Enter license number
Step five: Enjoy software.
Step One: Remove ALL ad0be programs from your computerWHAT???
Step Two: you may want/need to run cleanscript from ad0be to clean all remants of ad0be stuff from your computer.yes, I frequently have to reformat my hard-drive before installing new software -- which essentially what this guy is asking me do
Step Three: Ad0be also recommends you create a new user on your computer and install the suite thereThat's funny, all the other ad0be software I've ever installed never "recommended" that I create it under some phantom user account...
Step Four: google programs are also know to cause problems.Oh sure, why not...
Step Five : If your grandmother's middle name is Maria, you may also have problems installing.Ok, Ok, that was me...
Step Six: Do the following convoluted bunch of shit to your computer that you have no idea what it's going to do to it:Why? Whatcha hidin' there, Jaime??
1) Browse to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories
2) Right click "Notepad" and select "Run as administrator"
3) Click "Continue" on the UAC prompt
4) Click File -> Open
5) Browse to "C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc"
6) Change the file filter drop down box from "Text Documents (*.txt)"
to "All Files (*.*)"
7) Select "hosts" and click "Open"
8) paste in the following: a bunch of ad0be code lookin' crap.
Step Seven: Disconnect from the internet
Step Eight: This will want to extract to your desktop, click next and allow it This takes upto 1 hour, dont be alarmedummm, I'm pretty sure I was "alarmed" looooooooong before this part buddy. Oh, btw, it takes an hour because it's copying over 6 GIGS onto your desktop!
Step Nine: Install program as trial version. after install choose register later open a program,Why, did we finish ripping Ad0be off already?!
Step Ten: Start program and use new serial to unlock the trial close it
Step Eleven: you can connect to the internet again
Step Twelve: Install something with "LicenseWorkaround" in the title.Uh yeah. I was fucking bamboozled.
Thank god I paid with a credit card... I'm in the process of disputing those charges.

Damn, seriously? Those were the instructions? Wow.
You are seriously funny, even when royally pissed off! Thanks for the great laugh this AM.
Wow that really really sucks. Is there anywhere you can report that website to?
Holy Smokes! Twelve steps? That's about ten more than what's needed these days. Dispute away.
Thanks for the warning. That is seriously effed up!!
GG
What a bunch of crap. I love the "do not be alarmed" warning. Whenever that needs to be said, there is most likely a reason for concern.
I was once on a flight where a pilot start his sentence off with "Don't be alarmed folks, but..." UM! Oh, just a little smoke in the cabin... ok, sure, I'm totally calm.
I know you won't let this idiot take your money but I hope the process is as painless as possible.
